JFT Strategies Fund Class A Units (JFS.UN) manager Jean-François Tardif at BNN's The Open with Jon Erlichman

I haven't listened to BNN for a little while, but this morning I did, and surprise: Jean-François Tardif was getting interviewed by Jon Erlichman at The Open. Jean-François Tardif manage the JFT Strategies Fund Class A Units (JFS.UN). I hold some units of JFS.UN in both my TFSA and RRSP. In some years, JFT Strategies Fund Class A Units (JFS.UN) had paid an annual dividend, but most of the time, JFS.UN doesn't pay any dividends at all. For 2020, I was hoping to get a special dividend in January, but that didn't happen. No dividend, but what the JFT Strategies Fund Class A Units (JFS.UN) have to offer is what I will name as being stability in the value. In the sense that if you don't know what to invest your money in, JFS.UN is a good option while figuring things out.

I invest in JFT Strategies Fund Class A Units (JFS.UN) so I can have a little balance somewhere between my collection of stocks and a professional manage fund. Right now, the investments I made in JFS.UN are not enough to create a somewhat balanced, but at least it's creating a somewhat illusion, or at least a willingness to create balance, if that makes any sense.

In recent days, Jean-François Tardif focus on COVID recovery stocks. His goal is to find cheap stocks to make money for us, his investors. Lately, it's been reported that a big hedge fund had a margin call. I don't know what happens there and I don't find the incident to be interesting. It's actually quite irresponsible coming from so call managers who are supposed to be professional. On that matter, Jon Erlichman asked Jean-François Tardif if he believed that the incident would have any long time effect on the market. To that question, Tardif answered no, that those kinds of things happen pretty fast, and that there are always investors out there looking for deals, trying to figure where the low is. It's a game I play when the market goes on a downturn.

A few stocks were named, in which Jean-François Tardif is currently following:
SU
IFP
HCG
MRE
MHO

Another thing that I was able to catch from Tardif is that he's focusing on pre-COVID and where we are sitting now. Tardif believes that there are strong months ahead for energy stocks. As we recover, energy should be a good sector, but will be volatile. That works well for me because I have exposure to energy stocks with a few investments that I had been holding on to for a long time: Enbridge Inc. (ENB), Pembina Pipeline Corporation (PPL), and TransCanada Corp (TRP). Inside my TFSA, Suncor Energy Inc. (SU) is a small investment I made a couple of months ago.

A more few notes:
Home Capital, with the housing market, there're risks with new loans. Low-interest rate is the main drive.

Of, all this being said, for this BNN interview, Jean-François Tardif has a strange golfing figurine, it was like a man carrying a golf bag. Last time, in his background, we had a golfing figurine, but it was a woman dress the old fashion way, and the lady was golfing. So I naturally concluded that Jean-François Tardif has a set of two golfing figurines.

Home decors are just really intriguing. Amber Kanwar unfortunately has now that big BNN background that covers pretty much what it has to cover so curious viewers cannot see correctly the interior of what looks like a beautiful home.

Hello! It's been a while...

There are many reasons why I haven't blog for the past couple of days, it feels like I haven't written anything in the longest time! The TSX had been not disappointing, but going on nowhere and I find those times to be extremely boring. Also, last week, we had amazing weather in Montreal and I took advantage.

My non-registered portfolio closed this past Friday session at $121,558.43, my TFSA portfolio at $114,617.58 and my RRSP - stocks only - $56,101.47. At 18,752.58 points the TSX is still going strong. My investments in Bitcoin funds are doing ok:

Bitcoin Fund The Class A units (QBTC): +6.52%

Purpose Bitcoin ETF CAD ETF non-currency hedged units (BTCC.B): -2.03%

Things should be better tomorrow at the opening for BTCC.B. Back at 12:23 pm today, Bitcoin was trading at $71,124.44 CAN. I was recently watching a video featuring Suze Orman on YouTube

It happens that we share pretty much a similar view on Bitcoin on at least one specific point, and that being: you should only invest an amount that you can afford losing, in case of bad luck. I don't like Bitcoin. However, Suze Orman's feelings about Bitcoin are different, she like Bitcoin. I am only investing in Bitcoin funds because I know there's money that can be made. I made several hundred in the past and I expect to make even more. This time around, I am surfing more on an investing mode, I am holding my Bitcoin funds for now and I will sell before the Bitcoin reached the 100k value.

Lucky Canadians, our TFSA make it quite interesting to invest in Bitcoin funds, since profit made in there are tax-free. However, be aware that Canada Revenue Agency could tax trades made in your TFSA if you over trade inside your TFSA, meaning that if you are a day trader, if you buy and sell stocks regularly inside your TFSA, Revenue Canada could get back to you and ask that you pay taxes on your capital gains, just like if those gains were made inside a non-registered account...

I don't trade that much in my non-registered, TFSA, or RRSP portfolio, so I hope that once I will sell my Bitcoin funds inside my TFSA portfolio - at a big profit of course - my victorious gains will go straight under the radar and hopefully, I won't have to pay taxes on those extravaganzas $$$. Like anyone else, I need money. The desk chair that I use for work, blog, etc. just broke. I try to fix the broken leg with duct tape. It seems to be working for now, but I order a new chair, this one at Structube. It looks quite pad up and seems to be comfortable enough to work as an office chair.

My current old chair was also coming from Structube, it lasts me for a couple of years. I find that Structube has the best prices and I like their furniture. I also have a recliner chair and a nightstand that I bought at Structube several years ago. Currently, the bottom of my recliner chair needs to be patched up, but I waiting to buy black Duct tape, as my recliner chair is black. After a few years of active usage, I guess it's normal that furniture gets a bit old and destroyed along the way. For now, I am covering it up with a blanket. I don't plan to buy a new recliner chair anytime soon.

I taught that by now, I would have been able to visit my family in New Brunswick, but that's is not going to happen anytime soon. However, I am keeping good faith that I may be able to go for the next hunting season in October - maybe. It's the reason why I allow myself on another expense I made recently, it's not an extra heavy one and it's bought for-me-to-me as an Easter present: a Nespresso Essenza Mini C machine. I got tired to drink my usual coffee at home and I wanted to try something different. The Essenza Mini C is Nespresso cheapest machine. It working well for my needs and it gives a change from instant coffee. Essenza Mini C is a cute little compact machine and easy to use. The coffee came in small capsules that you can recycle in a green bag you can get at any Nespresso boutique. I actually got my green capsule recycle bag at Nespresso boutique at La Baie.

Otherwise, talking about my stocks, I just notice that recently, Savaria Corporation (SIS) hit on in the $18 per share, which is quite good. I also notice that recently that my investment in Aecon Group Inc. (ARE) started to be in a gain mode - but only a small one, but I appreciate it. Sometimes, while holding a stock in a portfolio, it takes its time to grow and sometimes that period required to experience some growth vary from one stock to another.

Welcoming my highest net worth value EVER: $289,917.80!

These days, it's good news, after good news, after good news. First, today, my net worth reached $289,917.80 in value, which is quite amazing. Only missing $10,082.20 before hitting the SO wanted $300,000 net worth. Another good news: gyms are about to reopen on March 26 in Montreal. I will do my best to go in the morning, to avoid the max of people. And the biggest news of the day: Rogers Communications is looking forward to buying Shaw Communications Inc!

For me, this is kind of feeling pretty much like a natural move. It's been said that Rogers is looking forward to buying Shaw Communications at $40.50 per share. Shaw Communications Inc. (SJR.A) closed the day at $38.26, on a super great +26.104% gain. It appears that Rogers could acquire Shaw in 2022. Even while trading in its highest value ever - just like me at present - Shaw Communications Inc. (SJR.A) is still looking appealing. Let just watch this one and see if I could make a small investment in SJR.A just to be in the game. If I do so, I a probably going to place this investment move inside my non-registered portfolio, on probably margin account money, but I am in no rush. I have been a good girl and my margin debt is down under the 50k. My margin account debt is currently at $49,366.23.

Today, Bitcoin loses in value, but it was predictable since it was at its highest value. With crypto, you need to be aware that each and single time Bitcoin reached its highest value, you'll shortly after face some sell-off. I haven't been involved with Bitcoin investments for a long time, but for the past months, it's how things had been playing. thAt the present time, I am still comfortable holding on to Bitcoin Fund The Class A units e (QBTC) and Purpose Bitcoin ETF CAD ETF non-currency hedged units (BTCC.B) inside my TFSA portfolio.

Also inside my TFSA, Aphria Inc. (APHA) surf the day on a nice +10.86 gain. However, the most exciting thing ever is that the TSX is so very close to hitting on the 19,000 points! It's an in-deep mixed feeling of total WTF and wow fun :-) Without a TSX in good shape, I am next to nothing and I know it, at least.

Surprise! I am now on my highest net worth value EVER: $287,914.75!

The 300k net worth is now just $12,085.25 away. Just for your information, this is what perfection looks like

The TSX closed today on an amazing 18,844.57 points, which have a great effect on all of my stocks, including my investments in Bitcoins ETF. Luckily enough, today is payday and I will be able to put $300 in savings and exactly $741.74 to pay down my margin. I don't exactly have any investment plan, with the exception maybe of Empire Company Limited Non-Voting Class A Shares (EMP.A). I listened to BNN lately and they spoke about this stock. But I feel the overall chart a bit rocky. I am not in a rush to invest in this one. While the TSX almost in the 19,000 points, this is just not the time to buy, and I am not just really into anything at this time.

My investments in Bitcoin Fund The Class A units (QBTC) and Purpose Bitcoin ETF CAD ETF non-currency hedged units (BTCC.B) are growing well.

For now, I am just enjoying the moment.

Welcoming my highest net worth value EVER: $283,675.99

I had just updated my investment portfolio, and I just found out that my net worth is now at $283,675.99, which is my highest value ever. Its quite fun to know that I am now only missing $16,324.01 to hit on the 300k net worth value. If the TSX continues to well perform, I may finally hit on the 300k quite soon enough.

Bitcoin Fund The Class A units (QBTC) closed today session with a +7.70% gain inside my TFSA portfolio. Soon enough, Bitcoin value will be hitting on the 70k CAN value.

Just boring stuff, just me building up my savings - hard to believe

Here in Montreal, we kind of got a feeling of spring because the sun was out, but it still cold. However, it was nice to have a sunny Sunday. It makes it easier to go outside for a walk. I am missing the gym more and more. It can be difficult for me to do my exercises inside my apartment. I can exercise in my apartment, but what I find difficult is doing absolutely everything in the small space of my apartment. Nice weather makes it easier to go through this pandemic.

The TSX closed this past Friday session in the 18,380 points, which is not too bad. Personally, whenever we closed a day in the 18,000 points, I am happy because I know my margin remains in the safe zone. This past week had been quite busy for me, so I just had a quick look at my stocks and the TSX. I am quite amazed, my non-registered portfolio closed this past Friday session on a super great $118,796.67, my US portfolio at $3,922.50 USD, my TFSA portfolio at $111,535.65 and my RRSP portfolio - stocks only - at $54,333.30. My margin debt is at $50,294.93. I estimate my net worth to be in the $276k.

This week, I got kind of hit by a feeling of emergency to do my tax declaration. I felt I was running late for that task. So at least I got that done. I just absolutely hate the whole process of doing my income tax, although I don't do it myself, getting my paper ready, covering up all of my account numbers, name of brokers, and others, including my SIN. I hope that you are doing all the name. Your accountant doesn't need to know the name of your broker or any of your account numbers or either way the name of the stocks you hold.

I might be in the 60k income range. I contribute an extra 1k to my RRSP, so I hope I won't have too much to pay back in taxes. I am not an RRSP fan. We shouldn't have to pay any penalties if we have to use that money before retiring. But now that I quite a good amount in my TFSA and my non-registered, it doesn't upset me that much to put a bit of money in my RRSP, especially since it can contribute to lower the taxes I have to pay.

This week, my only goal is to pay down a 1k on my margin debt and the rest will go into my savings. I had started to put a bit of money in several different savings account, with a different bank. Those are accounts that I wasn't using anymore, but I felt it was a good time to use them as a savings account. I like the idea to have a bit of money here and there with different banks. And that being just in case something happens, because of my margin debt, that being my number one reason. A second reason is that I like the idea to have money someplace else in case a problem occurs, fraud, or something happens that could eventually block my account in some way. I think that when you have a margin account like me or a big debt somewhere, it's quite important to have some savings standing in a different institution. If bad luck happens at the institution where you hold your debt in, that you have a margin call or let say you cannot pay your debt anymore, your account could easily get frozen, and you may not be able to access your savings if your cash is all concentrate in the same place. For the moment, I am not well advanced in the process, but at least I am starting to build something up.

I should be able to contribute to my savings this week and I also want to pay down a bit on my margin, so it can be standing at 49k instead of the current 50k. My recent investments in Bitcoin Fund The Class A units (QBTC) and Purpose Bitcoin ETF CAD ETF non-currency hedged units (BTCC.B) are down, but not by that much. At present, Bitcoins seem to be in a state of recovery. There might be a lot of ups and downs among the way, but eventually, Bitcoins are going to hit on the 100k and once it does, and probably only when it does, I will sell my QBTC and BTCC.B shares.

Thomson Reuters Corporation (TRI) announced an increase of it's dividend distribution - thank you TRI!

Got to take the good news whenever they show up! Dividend free cash? I like that!

Nothing is better then a stock market downturn to cry out shit off and put things together in a tied hole, to put everything in perspective. When the stock market pull back, I usually don't blog much. If the stock market say F U, and will have the exact same attitude and I prefer to stay away from my broker account and from my blog when things get too difficult. I hide in my hole. At a point, a stock correction is much needed to remember our humble human condition as an investor. Because at a point, I began to felt quite invincible.

My non-registered portfolio closed today session at $115,515.07, my TFSA portfolio at $112,657.95, and my RRSP portfolio at $54,736.84. I estimate my net worth to be in the $276,309, which is not bad at all. A stock that hold in both my TFSA portfolio and non-registered portfolio, WSP Global Inc. (WSP) made great gains today, closing at +8.15%. A stock that I hold in my RRRSP portfolio, CAE Inc. (CAE), decided to close today session on a wonderful +12.77%. Go go go!
