Celebrating a New All-Time High Net Worth of $631,310.43!

I was far from expecting such a strong victory for the Democrats in the midterm elections. I was actually really shocked! But when you take a moment to think about it, the result seems like a natural reaction to the current state of the United States. My impression is that Americans are not used to dealing with such a high cost of living. Groceries used to be much cheaper for them. Now, Americans are facing higher costs not only for groceries but also in many other aspects of their everyday lives. They can partly thank Trump's tariffs for that. We'll see whether these election results will put a dent in Donald Trump's usual arrogance.

Under his leadership, the United States seems to be heading nowhere. Trump hasn't been able to resolve the war in Ukraine, settle the conflict involving Iran, or even reach a new trade agreement with Canada. At the end of the day, Americans need to ask themselves what Donald Trump has concretely accomplished for them so far during his mandate.

It seems that 124.3 million Americans asked themselves that question and went out to vote. Less than half of eligible American voters participated in the 2026 midterms. That's quite a low level of participation, considering everything that's going on.

With Donald Trump, it's all talk, mockery, and theatrics, with very little meaningful action being taken for Americans. Seriously, what concrete gains have Americans made under the Trump administration? I would really like to know. I would actually love to sit down face-to-face with a Trump supporter and have them explain it all to me.

Yesterday, the markets experienced a rally following the Democrats' strong victory. I was able to reach my highest net worth ever: $631,310.43. Before that, my previous all-time high had been reached back in July, when my net worth stood at $631,085.60. For what I believe is the first time ever, my stock portfolios have also exceeded a 100% return.

All good news, but today was a completely different story for the TSX!

The TSX closed today's session at 35,605.27 points, losing 736.13 points, or 2.03%, in a single day. Sometimes, big gains are followed by big losses, and that's exactly what happened. It seems like the markets might be worried about what the Democrats could do to slow down the progression of AI, or something along those lines.

Today, my stock portfolios lost over $9,000. I estimate my current net worth at around $621,000. Which means that I remained at my highest net worth ever for... one single day. But hey, at least it was a good day...

Once a number has been reached, no matter how briefly, it's quite significant. From now on, my official all-time-high net worth stands at $631,310.43. The ultimate goal is now to climb back to that level and, of course, exceed it. While watching the TSX experience some significant losses today, I really wanted to take advantage of the situation, so I made a few small moves inside my TFSA portfolio.

I sold approximately $2,000 worth of TD Cash Management ETF (TCSH) and reinvested the proceeds in Harvest AMD Enhanced High Income Shares ETF (AMDY) and Hamilton Enhanced U.S. Covered Call ETF (HYLD). Most of that money went into HYLD.

I wanted to boost my dividend income, and that's exactly what I did!

My dividend income has now reached the equivalent of $1,117 per month, coming from my non-registered, U.S., and TFSA portfolios. I would love to push that amount a little further, to $1,200 per month. I am not missing much.

Earlier this week, Fortis Inc. (FTS) announced another great dividend increase of 4%. Over time, high-quality stocks like Fortis tend to increase their dividend distributions. With a dividend yield of around 3.10%, potentially adjusted following this week's increase, Fortis offers a relatively reliable dividend. However, that yield remains well below 5%.

And that's precisely why I like to sprinkle my investment portfolio with ETFs offering higher dividend yields.

Harvest AMD Enhanced High Income Shares ETF (AMDY) is a completely different story. Its distribution is far from being safe or guaranteed. Currently, AMDY is displaying an astonishing 52.652% distribution yield!

I only invested a small amount in it today, mostly for the thrill.

After all, it's with stocks like Fortis that I built my $600K+ net worth. And let's not forget Pembina Pipeline Corporation (PPL), Enbridge Inc. (ENB), Power Corporation of Canada (POW), Savaria Corporation (SIS), and so many others.

These high-quality stocks don't come anywhere close to matching AMDY's extraordinary yield, but their underlying businesses have much more established track records.

And that's exactly what you need when you're trying to build substantial wealth over time: investing in highly reliable companies with the potential to grow in value and increase their dividends over the years.

That's how I built my portfolio from the ground up, and that's the strategy I continue to believe in.

But while doing so, there's nothing wrong with occasionally investing a little money here and there in ETFs that will absolutely blow your mind with their crazy-high distribution yields, like Harvest AMD Enhanced High Income Shares ETF (AMDY). As long as you understand the risks involved.

Other than that, I'm really enjoying the beautiful autumn season here in New Brunswick.

This weekend, I was lucky enough to spot an owl! He wasn't facing me, but it was still pretty cool to see such a lovely bird enjoying the sunshine, just like I was.
