I simply cannot believe I already made it. I hit the $550K net worth mark! As you can see, my savings went down by less than $400 because I had a small bill to pay, but that didn’t stop me from reaching $550K. I even exceeded it!
At the close, I knew I was at least around $550K, but I didn’t think I would top that amount by more than $1,500. The TSX closed today’s session at a very strong 33,023.32, up 552.34 points (+1.70%).
So far, 2026 has been quite sensational for my personal finances. In January 2026, my net worth grew by over $12,000, and so far in February, I’m also up by more than $12,000. Just to make things clear: so far in 2026, my net worth has increased by $25,143.44, and the most outrageous part is that we’re only in the second week of February…
This exceptional growth comes with exceptional volatility. One doesn’t come without the other. At this point, I feel that one of my greatest strengths is that I’ve been in the game for a long time now, 19 years in the making. Next year, in 2027, I’ll be celebrating my 20th year in the stock market.
I have more experience now, and I know for sure that, unfortunately, after periods of great gains, there often comes a time when the stock market corrects itself, for one reason or another. But it’s not really important to understand why, or to even know the exact reason. It’s simply part of the game. The market goes up and down all the time.
To be profitable, a market needs to be able to move freely, without constraints. It simply needs to be. And chances are that when the TSX posts strong gains, your portfolio will post strong gains as well. Nothing exceptional or out of reach. Just a very down-to-earth process. Without a TSX in good shape, I am absolutely nothing.
It’s quite awesome to experience dividend growth and net worth growth at the same time… Recently, TMX Group (X) increased its dividend by 9%, and Thomson Reuters (TRI) by 10%. Currently, my dividend income is now equivalent to $1,022 for my non-registered and TFSA portfolios.
