Just a few days ago, this past Friday, I reached a $560k net worth. Today, it’s $561,375.17. I didn’t think I was going to hit $560k this early in the year. As always, I quickly update my investment portfolio whenever I notice positive gains. For the month of February, so far, I have updated my investment portfolio 15 times! If I continue at this same rhythm for the rest of the year, my net worth will exceed $700k by December 2026!
Every day is different in the stock market, and anything can happen: quick gains, quick losses. It’s part of the game.
That’s why it’s very important for me to celebrate every gain by updating my investment portfolio page. Sometimes, it feels like the only thing I do on this blog these days is update my investment portfolio. It’s certainly a lot of fun, but on the other hand, it also feels quite strange because it’s happening so quickly!
The reason behind these quick gains is that the TSX is doing quite well. The second main reason is that I am now above $500,000. Now, whenever the TSX posts a gain as small as 0.2%, that means a gain of at least $1,000 for me. A 1.5% gain for the TSX results in at least $10,000. So I really get to benefit greatly from the fact that my net worth now exceeds $500k.
In financial literacy, people often say that $100k is an important milestone, and that after that, everything gets a lot easier. For me, it wasn’t $100k that made the huge difference, it was $500k. It’s a game changer, and I don’t think I’ll get over it anytime soon.
