I had received Premium Brands Holdings Corporation (PBH) and Yellow Pages Income Fund (YLO.UN) dividend

Today, I had received 58.80$ from Premium Brands Holdings Corporation (PBH) and 28.88$ from Yellow Pages Income Fund (YLO.UN) in dividend income. I have received the money in cash in my broker account. Really soon, the cash will transform itself in stocks and units. I should receive 4 new Yellow Pages Income Fund and 4 new stocks of Premium Brands Holdings Corporation (PBH). I just love the DRIP system. We are talking here about just a few stocks and units, but that’s enough to make me happy.

And what about a new investment?

I didn’t apply online to a credit card increase at TD yet. I had been quite busy with my late blog domain address and other thing. I supposed to receive a return from the federal government. I should received around 130$ if I remember. I am in real need of a new pair of running shoes. Just when I promise myself that I will exercise more, my present shoes begin to hurt my feet… Always an excuse for sitting in front of my computer and just blog and write on HubPages!

The paycheck I received today bring my checking account to 1 265$. I make a deposit of 1 000$ on my TD credit line. With the money I have available on my credit line (1 092$), I am tempted to do another investment… I know, I should keep some money aside, but I just cannot help it, I really want to do something out of that money. 1 092$ is not that much of money. But there are still possibilities:

100 units of Claymore Gold Bullion ETF (CGL) at 10.49$ for a total of 1 049 $ + T D Waterhouse too high commission fee of 29$ = 1 078$

or

200 units of The Consumers’ Waterheater Income Fund (CWI.UN) at 5.27$ for a total of 1 054$ + once again, T D Waterhouse too high commission fee of 29$ = 1 083$

And not too forget, 200 new units of The Consumers’ Waterheater Income Fund (CWI.UN) in our investment portfolio will bring an extra: something call dividend!
0.65 cents per unit for 200 units of Consumers’ Waterheater Income Fund = 130$.

So guess what, we go for The Consumers’ Waterheater Income Fund (CWI.UN). Yeah!

And what about our dividend income? Wonder what it would look like now?

From our non registered investment portfolio:
Sprott Inc. (SII): 512 stocks x 0.16$ = 81.92$
Bank of Nova Scotia (BNS): 105 stocks x 1.96$ = 205.80$
Methanex Corporation (MX): 103 stocks x 0.62$ = 63.86$
Fortis (FTS): 105 stocks x 1.12$ = 117.60$
Pembina Pipeline Income Fund (PIF.UN): 413 units x 1.56$ = 644.28$
Just Energy Income Fund (JE.UN): 726 stocks x 1.44$ =
1 045.44 $
Yellow Pages Income Fund (YLO.UN): 433 units x 0.804$ = 348.13$
Bell Aliant Regional Communications Income Fund (BA.UN): 100 units x 2.904$ = 290.40$
Pengrowth Energy Trust (PGF.UN): 106 units x 0.84$ = 89.04$
Enbridge Income Fund (ENF.UN): 306 units x 1.152$ = 352.51$
Corby Distilleries (CDL.A): 100 stocks x 0.56$ = 56$
Davis + Henderson Income Fund (DHF.UN): 100 units x 1.836$ = 183.60$
Premium Brands Holdings Corporation (PBH): 200 stocks x
1.176$ = 235.20$
+ our new comer in our non registered investment portfolio:
The Consumers’ Waterheater Income Fund (CWI.UN): 200 units x 0.65$ = 130$
TOTAL: 3 843.78$

From our Tax-free savings account (TFSA) portfolio:
Consumers’ Waterheater Income Fund (CWI.UN): 200 units x 0.65$ = 130$
TOTAL: 130$

From our RSP portfolio:
EnCana Corporation (ECA): 100 stocks x 0.80$ = 80$
Emera Incorporated (EMA): 200 stocks x 1.132$ = 226.40$
TOTAL: 306.40$

3 843.78$ + 130$ + 306.40$ = 4 280.18$ + 100$ from DRIP = 4 380.18$

4 380.18$ / 12 months = 365.02$

365.02$ x 10 months (April-December 2010) = 3 650.20$

87 796.12$ + 3 650.20$ = 91 446.32$ + 9 000$ (1 000$ in savings per month for the next 9 months, May-December 2010 period, as we already contributed our 1 000$ for April)
= 100 446.32$

$$$
The plan is going to work! Maybe, maybe not, but the possibility is there. Right there.

Domain address problem among other

In the past 2 days, I had a problem with my blog. I taught I was having one major problem when I saw a cover under my Web page. My blog was no longer showing up. Instead of the content of my blog was showing the picture of a girl, smiling, and in title: Welcome to myfirst50000.com… Nice, but that wasn’t my blog! What happen is that I just forget to renew my domain address purchase. Once I make the payment for my address domain, my blog was back and running. I stay up all night Monday to resolve the issue. I didn’t understand what was going on. I change my template; delete about 3 recent posts…. But the issue happens to be a domain address renewal problem. I delete some posts that I had some comments on… Thinking it could be the issue. I had one comment left by someone living in Singapore and working at achieving financial freedom just like me… That one had been deleted too. And I no longer have my browser history because I deleted it on a daily basis… Too bad because I wanted to comment on his blog and now I lost track of it…

Now that back on track and that my domain address is now fully paid off lol, I can say, the past couple days haven’t been too good for my portfolio. My non registered stocks and units investment portfolio is at 47 700.52$, down of 464.25$ compare to April 5. It goes up and down… Of course, I just hate it when it goes down. But what went wrong? Why that par of my investment portfolio decreased of 464.25$? A few things actually happen. First, Sprott Inc. (SII) is at less than 4$ per stock. Sprott Inc. (SII) close the day at 3.90$, a lost of 56.55$ compare to April 5. Also, Just Energy Income Fund (JE.UN), our super Energy close the day at 13.61$, a lost of 385.74$ (!!!) compare to what my same investment in Energy worth on April 5… Those were the 2 major problems in my portfolio. Loosing money is never fun but I am confident those investments will go up again. For Sprott Inc. (SII) in the last couple of days, I saw Sprott going at less than 4$, going up… and down… And now its still down. But it will go up again, just a matter of time. As for Just Energy Income Fund (JE.UN), with the spring season, not too much gas is needed. I think its the Spring effect. Just Energy Income Fund (JE.UN) will probably keep its dividend the same. While loosing money in the investment, I can still rely on the dividend income.

But we experiment good gain today in some investment, but it wasn’t enough to keep the non registered portfolio at its outstanding 48 164.77$. I say outstanding because it was quite something to see more than 48 000$ worth in my non registered portfolio. Anyhow, we will again – some day lol – have 48 164.77$ in our portfolio…

Good gain with Davis + Henderson Income Fund (DHF.UN) today who close at 18.23$, a gain of 54$ compare to April 5. Also great stuff going on with Bank of Nova Scotia (BNS) who close at 51.51$, which represent a gain of 117.60$ compare to April 5. The amazing Yellow Pages Income Fund (YLO.UN) close today at 6.41$, a gain of 64.95$ compare to April 5 always. The Enbridge Income Fund (ENF.UN) of Derek Foster close today at 13.35$. The gain? 97.92$! Another one from Derek Foster, Corby Distilleries Limited (CDL.A) close at 15.55$, a gain… of 10$ lol. Little gain being better than loosing money of course. At the end, everything kind of balance. That’s why its important to diversify a portfolio! Yes, money had been lost, but it will eventually recover, especially with Just Energy Income Fund (JE.UN).

I had been investing in stocks for 2 years now, but dealing with the ups and downs of the TSX still frightening. So what am I doing there? I am too use to it now, I couldn’t live without this kind of excitement, making money, loosing money, you know, that kind of thing. My latest investments were good one. I do not stress, I just want everything to be UP. And all the time whenever it’s possible. It’s not the case right now, we’ll see how it goes.

I am a Neo-Brunswicker in power

Another weekend is over. My work weekdays schedule had been mixed up again this week but I am able to do the hours, just very inconvenient for me not to have my regular schedule. I was going to update my investment portfolio, but felt kind of tired and I am leaving things the way they are right now. The gains are good, but not significant enough to make a drastic change. And I do not hold 1 000$ in cash for now anyway, so all the one hour and a half work doesn’t worth it. But I notice really good gain. I still continue to believe that we are on the road to recovery.

I had been really right about the Sprott Canadian Equity Fund! My investment in the Sprott Canadian Equity Fund now worth 5 414.39$, an increase of 254.39$ compare to what we had on date of April 5. YEAH! And way to go Claymore! My fabulous Claymore Gold Bullion ETF (CGL) closed this last Friday at 10.44$. Remember that I had purchased 200 units at 10.16$? Hello wealthy profit! Since I hold Claymore Gold Bullion ETF (CGL), I saw the value of my gold bullions going up and down like a roller coster… But I am ready for the ride, that’s being part of the game. Also, I have to mention Yellow Pages Income Fund (YLO.UN), now at a fantastic 6.51$ per unit! Very awesome. I can easily imagine YLO.UN at 7$ per unit and it happen, my initial investment would than worth 3 031$, for a profit of 782.73! The fantastic CDL.A is now at 15.40$ when I had purchased 100 stocks at 15.30$ and so on…

The portfolio is relatively stable but just 2 deceptions: Just Energy Income Fund (JE.UN) who is at 14.10$ and Sprott Inc. (SII) at less than 4$, at 3.91$. I dislike seeing Sprott Inc. (SII) at less than 4$. But if the Sprott Canadian Equity Fund continues to well perform, this fund plus other Sprott mutual funds, Sprott Inc. (SII) value will rise. I think the stock market crash really affected Sprott. It had a bad effect on the Sprott Canadian Equity Fund as I explain previously and also on Sprott Inc. (SII) itself. If investors can remain confident as I am lol and invest their money in Sprott well, the situation will definitely get better. Investors had to invest. That’s very all. And I think that when it comes to investing, I did more than I could do. I did my part to save this economy, now its time for other to do their parts. Because its really like this, we all our parts, we all have a role to play in making things better, even if it’s a small role. But small roles can be rewarding and I like being a small players standing behind or between lol bigger players. It’s giving a sense of humanity to investment. And its really all what it is about. At least for me. And that’s basically what I mean when I say that I am a Neo-Brunswicker in power. In need of electricity lol...

Recent dividends: Sprott Inc. (SII) and Just Energy Income Fund (JE.UN)

Anyhow, I had receive 20.28$ in dividend from Sprott Inc. (SII) and 43.71$ from Just Energy Income Fund (JE.UN). All of those marvelous dividends had DRIP of course and had provided me extra stocks and units. Might seem like ridiculous sums of money, ridiculous investments all so extra diversify. But one day, those little sums of money and little roll over and so on will make me a very rich girl. Actually, when I went to TD Canada Trust for my 10 000$ RRSP credit line request this last March I think it was, after showing my assets (what you see in the right column) to the representative, I told him proudly: I am rich.

I never said it loudly before but the first time I ever said “I am rich” was at a TD Canada Trust branch in Montreal and funnily, the rep agree with me. So I had deal with someone really intelligent at TD Canada Trust and I got the loan I wanted. That’s how I do business, by letting other know that I am rich. I may hold around 36 000$ and something in debts. However, I am still rich and the rep at TD Canada Trust agreed with me so I am going to say it again: I AM RICH. Dealing with money is that just easy. Just need to come from New Brunswick to have a taste of it. That’s all.

More about my laid off from BMO Bank of Montreal

A lot of things had been going on lately… our lay off from our late job, our loan refusal from Bank of Scotia (BNS)… among other lol. But no matter what’s happening and how bad things are, I still find a way to manage. And I have to say, I am quite impress with myself.

I had my taxes declaration completed. My 10 500$ RRSP contribution had been quite helpful. I got a return of 134$ from the federal government. I own Quebec province 466$. It could have been worse since our total income for 2009 had been of more than 40 000$. And next week, it’s going to be worst for Quebec taxes. I don’t mind paying taxes, but the quality of health cares in Quebec is so low, I am basically paying for nothing at all. In more than 3 years living in Quebec, I never had the chance to benefit from Quebec health system. I never had been able to get my annual check-up done. I may have high blood pressure or cholesterol, or anything else. Who knows? I am in a good health condition, but it would be important to see a doctor at least once a year. I am in my late twenties now. Anyhow, I had experiment the Quebec system long enough to say that paying taxes in Quebec doesn’t worth it. Paying a high fee for rent, utilities don’t worth it either. Life in Quebec doesn’t worth it.

The job market is kind of close to new comers in Quebec and as a New Brunswicker, I never had the chance to have a real good job. Government jobs and Radio-Canada jobs are being offering to friends of people who already work for those organizations. While being at Second Cup coffee shop on Mont-Royal, I heard a girl saying that she just got a good administration job at Radio-Canada after being refer by a friend of hers who was working at Radio-Canada. In Quebec society, to have a job, you need to be referred by someone. I do not work in that system and I don’t want to get involve in it. This is what Quebec society is all about: hypocrisies.

I had been really bad treated by my ex-employer BMO Bank of Montreal. I had been laid off after only 3 months of try out, juts before the RSP season and after being giving a 5 000$ credit line and a 4 000$ credit card. I had a 6 months tried out period, but on that 6 months try out period I had been only giving 3 months. After providing several references, background check, involving a criminal check, after getting involve in a 6 weeks training, reading materials, after accepting a crazy schedule of 6 pm to 2 am in the morning at the call center of Montreal, I got laid off of BMO Bank of Montreal after only 3 months. Is that fair? I would have deserved my chance and they could have wait until the ending of the RSP season. But no. This is how it went to me and from now on, BMO Bank of Montreal will have to live with its regret. One of my late colleague had been laid off from BMO Bank of Montreal at the really end of the integration process. We were so not well train that we had questions every call or so that we were taking. It is not normal to have so many questions at the end of a 6 weeks training, training which at the end you are suppose to be ready to take calls. That why I find my laid off from BMO Bank of Montreal.

One day, if not by the end of 2010, I will reach the 100 000.00$ in assets and when it will happen, I will dedicate this achievement to those ***, BMO Bank of Montreal. Thank you for reading.

Little gain by little gain: on the road to financial recovery

I finish work at 6pm and went for a walk after. The weather was so nice in Montreal this evening; a nice spring wind was in the air. Just last week, I was freezing to death, and tonight, well, tonight was really enjoying spring night. I couldn’t stop walking, feeling the nice wind in my hair. I went to Park Lafontaine, than continue walking downtown, went down to Radio-Canada tower. I continue my walk to the Old Montreal, went back downtown, all the way from St-Catherine Musique Plus to the Chapter, where I finish the evening and than I took the metro to come back home. Nice evening today I hope for another beautiful day for tomorrow. While walking, I had plenty of time to think. And I decide it could worth it to search for another job. Want to know why?

Well, I want to recover from my bad investments made in Timminco (TIM), Sprott Inc. (SII), and the other like HE, DNI, BNT and Sprott Canadian Equity Fund. I lost around 7 000$ in bad investment. I went through the calculation of those loses previously. I had learned from my investment mistakes. But now that I learn, I would very much to gain an extra 7 000$ in income in order to catch up. I would invest the money in a solid company like Enbridge (ENB) (hold by Derek Foster by the way lol). I always had great regrets when it comes to the bad investment choices I made in the early beginning when I decide to invest. If only I would have stick to Derek Foster portfolio, I wouldn’t be here today, thinking about how to recover. Yes I have more than 50 000$ worth in net value (after 2010 dividend earnings) but I know that I can achieve much more than that.

If I can have 2 000$ per month to invest, I would be able to reach the 100 000$ in assets in 6 months from now. By the end of 2010, I could exceed the 100 000$ in assets.

Another reason for my motivation is that some of my mutual funds investments are now at the same level that they were before the stock crash of 2008. So this mean that we’ll soon get back to the point where our mutual funds investments – mostly concentrated in our RSP portfolio will provide us a positive return. In the last couple of months, we lost some money in our mutual funds. At a point, I asked myself if it wouldn’t be better to just have the money sleeping in a saving account. But that taught never last for long. It’s just the recovery period had been extremely long for me, like I couldn’t see the end of it.

Heres some examples of what I am trying to explain:

The investment: CIBC Dividend Growth Fund
Initial investment value: 500$
When the investment was made? January 2007
My lowest point that I recorded was in August 2009. In August 2009, my investment in the CIBC Dividend Growth Fund only worth 465.98$.
What does it worth now? 505.21$ in date of April 1, 2010. Since January 2007, in 3 years of investment, I earn 5.21$ in profit from the CIBC Dividend Growth Fund. This is showing how tough the road had been. But as you can see, since we mark a gain with this investment, we can say that the stock market is on the road for a recovery. Personally speaking, this also mean for me that the CIBC Dividend Growth Fund is a pretty good fund, because we didn’t lost our initial capital, which was 500$.

We don’t have many examples like this one in our portfolio. But here is another one:

The investment: RBC Canadian Dividend Fund
Initial investment value: 500$
When the investment was made? January 2008
My lowest point that I recorded was in August 2009 also, when the investment in RBC Canadian Dividend Fund only worth 466.22$.
What does it worth it now? 513.48$. That being again on date of April 1, 2010. Since January 2008, I made 13.48$ from the RBC Canadian Dividend Fund… 13.48$ in 2 years of investment. I am being quite sarcastic, but once again, the RBC Canadian Dividend Fund had been strong enough to recover from the loses experiment in August 2009. The RBC Canadian Dividend Fund, just like the CIBC Dividend Growth Fund, is a very powerful, extraordinary investment if you want my point of view. Reason being that the investment save the value of our initial capital invested which was, in both cases, 500$.

This is one of the reasons why it is extremely important to diversify your investment portfolio. A portfolio will never be too much diversified.

And I like my portfolio! Forgive my craziness to have this very messy portfolio. The money is all over the place, in different investment products. You can name them all, I have them all (or almost): GIC, mutual funds, stocks, units, segregated funds, cash… I have all that :) Not now but on the long run, we should be able to generate good gain by this diversification. That’s one of the reasons why we have to get a third job. Is that understandable?

lol….

As you can see, the spring wind wasn’t only beneficial to my hair, but it was also beneficial to my little brain.

So I am hoping to see this kind of recovery for all of my mutual funds. I had worked hard at trying to pick the best funds and I am looking forward to recover from my mutual funds loses and also make money from those same investments. If we calculated the gain made by the recovery + our dividend earning + the current value of our assets; that really begin to make some serious awesome cash. This is getting way too hot.

So guess I will be job searching really really soon.

I am now at 87 291.72$

Interesting gain earns by the TSX today, but the gains aren’t showing up in my non registered stocks and units portfolio! I think its one of the first time this is ever happening to me, that my portfolio is not following the gain of the TSX. Our non registered stocks and units investment portfolio is now at 47 991.39$, a lost of a 311.47$ compare to March 29! A couple of things are going really wrong! Sprott Inc. (SII) is falling… under 4$! Timminco (TIM) is falling… under 1$! Hanwei Energy Services (HE) is falling… under 40 cents! Those are the major issues in our investment portfolio. If only the Sprott Canadian Equity Fund could performed better, it could bring Sprott Inc. (SII) to up to 5$ per stock. Sprott Canadian Equity Fund is doing better, but the fund is not doing better than following the gains of the TSX. At a management fee of 2.5% per year, I am expecting much more coming from the Sprott Canadian Equity Fund. High management fee but poor return. That’s what I had experiment with the Sprott Canadian Equity Fund so far.

Other than some loses and poor results with some so call investment, we experiment some positive gains today, but the gains were not enough to cover the loses, so we finish the day at -311.47$. PGF.UN continue its journey and will probably reach the 12$ per unit very soon. DHF.UN seem to be pretty close to the 18$ per unit. BNS will probably reach 51$ per stock very soon… Some great things are going on in our portfolio. Growing like a pretty little garden.

Our registered investment portfolio (RSP) had done very well, an increase of 110$ compare to March 29. Our mutual funds also earned interesting gain. Since I received a paycheck from my second job today, I add an extra 300$ to my savings section, for a total of 1 002.69$. Without that extra 300$ in savings, I would have been at 86 991.72$... But we have some savings so we now have 87 291.72$ in assets. Not bad isn’t?

Welcome in the house Methanex Corporation (MX) dividend in my online future trading brokerage

I didn’t make any gain today from my non registered stocks and units portfolio. I close the day at 48 060.82$, loosing 242.04$ compare to March 29. It’s not dramatic, I am confident to experiment interesting gain in the upcoming weeks. Hope April will be even better than March. Difficult to believe, but another month is about to start!

I received my Methanex Corporation (MX) dividend today. I had received 15.96$ from Methanex Corporation (MX). This dividend didn’t bring extra stock to our portfolio since Methanex Corporation (MX) is at more than 20$ per stock at this time. For the month of March 2010, I had earned 193.35$ in dividend. The month of March had been quite busy for our investments. I got my RSP loan, borrow 5 000$ to invest in Just Energy Income Fund (JE.UN), etc… March had been a great month, I managed myself quite well with my online future trading brokerage. Hope the next several months will be even better.

I have a few other projects on the way. One Web site project had been working on for a little while. On May 30, a 1 000$ I was holding in the Financials GIC Plus RSP will be release. I am hoping for a return on my 1 000$ investment. I just cannot wait to see how much I will earn. I made this 1 000$ investment in the Financials GIC Plus RSP back in 2005. That was 5 years ago! On May 30, I should received at least 1 000$, if not more in my RSP saving account. When the money will be from my RSP saving account, I will transfer the money into my broker account. That amount will be added to the 259.15$ I currently hold in cash in my RSP broker account. But that will only happen in the beginning of early June. Will there any other project before June?

Well, we have that emergency fund that we had fix at 2 000$ that we want to have in our saving account. Its something extremely boring to work on, but I felt its some kind of a necessity, at some point. So we are slowly building an emergency fund of 2 000$ or around it, we’ll see what can be save. We gave ourselves until the month of May, were our RSP loan payment will begin, to match 2 000$ in savings or the closest we can be to it.

It’s pretty much it for the upcoming investment projects. Nothing much. But to do more, I would need more money.

At this point, I am very please with my portfolio. Of course I would like to see my portfolio grow even more. But it’s not like before, it’s not like I am feeling any kind of interior pressure to earn more money to purchase more stocks. So the necessity of searching for a third job is more or less there. I know its silly, but working at 3 jobs at the same time is the only way I find to earn good money without doing anything illegal.

So the question being: should I job search or not? Should we all think about this one.

Happy April fooool.

I am now at 87 087.13$

Today, our non registered portfolio reach 48 302.86$, an increase of 199.95$ compare to March 24! Consequently, we update our portfolio. Our overall portfolio increase of 339.57$, to reach 86 387.14$. To the 86 387.14$ we add 700$ in savings because it bring the overall to more than 87 000$. We really have those savings at this time, if not a bit more. Rent payment is coming soon, but my savings should stabilize later on during the month. I am looking forward for other fabulous increase! I am officially at 87 087.13$ in assets.

And what about our dividend? Let’s update our annual dividend income:

From our non registered investment portfolio:
Sprott Inc. (SII): 507 stocks x 0.16$ = 81.12$
Bank of Nova Scotia (BNS): 105 stocks x 1.96$ = 205.80$
Methanex Corporation (MX): 103 stocks x 0.62$ = 63.86$
Fortis (FTS): 105 stocks x 1.12$ = 117.60$
Pembina Pipeline Income Fund (PIF.UN): 413 units x 1.56$ = 644.28$
Just Energy Income Fund (JE.UN): 723 stocks x 1.44$ =
1 041.12$
Yellow Pages Income Fund (YLO.UN): 433 units x 0.804$ = 348.13$
Bell Aliant Regional Communications Income Fund (BA.UN): 100 units x 2.904$ = 290.40$
Pengrowth Energy Trust (PGF.UN): 106 units x 0.84$ = 89.04$
Enbridge Income Fund (ENF.UN): 306 units x 1.152$ = 352.51$
Corby Distilleries (CDL.A): 100 stocks x 0.56$ = 56$
Davis + Henderson Income Fund (DHF.UN): 100 units x 1.836$ = 183.60$
Premium Brands Holdings Corporation (PBH): 200 stocks x
1.176$ = 235.20$
TOTAL: 3 708.66$

From our Tax-free savings account (TFSA) portfolio:
Consumers’ Waterheater Income Fund (CWI.UN): 200 units x 0.648$ = 129.60$
TOTAL: 129.60$

From our RSP portfolio:
EnCana Corporation (ECA): 100 stocks x 0.80$ = 80$
Emera Incorporated (EMA): 200 stocks x 1.132$ = 226.40$
TOTAL: 306.40$

3 708.66$ + 129.60$ + 306.40$ = 4 144.66$ + 100$ from DRIP = 4 244.66$

4 244.66$ / 12 months = 353.73$

353.73$ x 10 months (April-December 2010) = 3 537.22$

87 087.13$ + 3 537.22$ = 90 624.35$
Difficult to realize, but we only have 9 months left to reach our first 100 000.00$!

Nice gain this morning in our non registered investment portfolio

I wake up in much better shape. No more back pain. As for now, our non registered stocks and units investment portfolio is at 48 165.93$ (at 10:30AM exactly). I cheat yesterday on my non expense rule. I will probably cheat again. The 2 000$ in savings was just a number like that up in the air, 1 000$ or even 1 500$ could do just fine, but we’ll see how it goes. Maybe I will look for another job to add more money in. Things were working extraordinary well before the BMO episode. Things will continue to work out for us. I am very happy to see Claymore Gold Bullion ETF (CGL) exceeding the 10$ per unit this morning. We have a chance to hit the 100 000.00$ mark. Things are getting pretty interesting. I am very happy to have more than 10 000$ invested in the Just Energy Income Fund (JE.UN). Would be nice to have one day 10 000$ in all the stocks and units I hold.

Its going to be difficult to see 2 000$ in our saving account without doing anything with it. I would very much to invest in 100 new stocks of Corby Distilleries Limited (CDL.A) to benefit of its DRIP. Corby Distilleries Limited (CDL.A) is a good pick of Derek Foster. Corby Distilleries Limited (CDL.A) value is pretty stable as its stock price seem to remain always around 15.20$-15.30$. This Corby Distilleries Limited (CDL.A) bring stability to our investment portfolio and we like it. Going to work for now, million things to do. Yesterday was nice because I did all of my laundry and my place is ultra-clean now. Could eat on the floor.

Keeping it in control: living on a budget

Very cold day in Montreal! I hope the weather will get better soon. I went for a walk after work. I like Lafontaine Park. It’s near my place. I am looking forward to exercise more. A horrible thing to say at 29. At 29, I should be healthy, pretty and slim. But instead, I hold 86 000$ in assets lol. It was one or the other. Just like for New Brunswick: we had to pick between fibre optic for our extra-high speed Internet or a good electric network. We had pick the optic, and no we are in a mess... I got recently horrible back pains, like I was going to broke in 2 pieces. I usually got those back pain when I am need of exercise. Working 7 days a week is not easy. But even there, if I manage myself properly, I will find time to walk more. I am not a huge sport fanatic, but just walking a couple of hours per week should do it. Usually, it’s all it takes and the pain goes away.

Anyhow, we are feeling better now. As for our non registered stocks and units portfolio, we close Friday without the 268.95$ gain realize on Friday morning. I am confident we will make other gain. It’s just that right now there’s some stuff going on with Greece but an agreement had been made with the Euro and should help to stabilize the situation. So things are going to be interesting in the next couple of days. We should be able to realize gain and keep them on.

Now that we got involved in different loans, RSP credit line loan, credit lines itself, credit card balance transfer (do we like that stuff or not)… We have some debts to take care off. We won’t be working at paying anything until we reach the 100 000.00$, but until that time, we still have to pay the minimum payments require in order to keep a good credit score to later on ask for more credit or a credit line increase.

Payment on the 10 000$ RSP credit line only begin in May. We have until that time to save some cash in our bank account. The way things are going for now, I should be able to save around 1 000$ per month. By the end of May, I should have an emergency fund of 2 000$. We never been very strong on emergency fund as I always through that in case of need, I would sell some of my investment. We registered to pre-authorized debit for the RSP credit line. We also have pre-authorized debit for CIBC Visa. It’s been working like a charm. Whenever I make a payment in advance, CIBC Visa never came to take any money of my banking account. But it hasn’t been working so well on my credit line at BMO Bank of Montreal. I usually pay my things in advance. Once, I made my payment on my BMO Bank of Montreal credit line in advance. On the same month, on the due date, BMO Bank of Montreal took the same amount out of my bank account. On that month, BMO had been paid twice. I have the proof on paper that this really happen. Wonder what I did after finding out? I simply close my BMO Bank of Montreal banking account. I am done with BMO Bank of Montreal. Shitty service and shitty way to treat employees. My BMO InvestorLine account is also close. I am forever done with BMO Bank of Montreal. Well, almost, because I didn’t close any of the credit products I hold with them. But I don’t plan to use my BMO Bank of Montreal credit card, even if it provides me airmiles. As I wrote previously, business is business. I won’t do business with people being so disrespectful with my financial property. I have a five star credit score and I want things to remain this way. That’s what I call keeping it in control.

Other than that BMO shit, we have a lot to look into. Ok, so for the first time since a very very long time, I will hold a bit more than 2.69$ in savings in my investment portfolio. It’s going to look a bit better than usual! This is not being an emergency fund really, it’s more a protective funds, just to make sure money is there whenever money is being taking out. Because once again, we want to protect our awesome credit. It’s not BMO Bank of Montreal who’s going to ruin everything. And as usual, we are going to kick ass, just like we did when we reach our first 50 000$.

Watch out what a 2 000$ can bring as value for us:

2 000$ (savings) + 86 047.56$ (value in date of March 24) + 4 239.96$ (annual dividend earning) + a gain of 5% on the value of March 24 (4 302.38$)
= 96 589.90$

This is what we could have by the end of 2010 without making any other investment.

Now, when we add 8 000$ in new investments for the period of May-December 2010:

2 000$ (savings) + 86 047.56$ (value in date of March 24) + 4 239.96$ (annual dividend earning) + a gain of 5% on the value of March 24 (4 302.38$) + 8 000$ in new investments + 300$ in new dividends
= 104 889.90$

Did you saw that, we even exceed the 100 000.00$ assets! No matter on which part we take it, the plan work!

Nice, but at this point, keeping track of my expenses is really important because I don’t plan t conduct any job search for now and I don’t plan to work more than I am working right now, reason behind being serious back pain. Someone from BMO is an expert with voodoo dolls lol.

I am not making that of a salary right now, but I spend a lot of money on coffees, DVD renting, eating out, movies… It’s very sad, but the upcoming weeks are going to nice and tough, just the way we like it lol. Reason why: there going to be a lot less spending and a lot more money in our pocket. I am not a huge spender, but when I see 400$ in spending in less than a month on my credit card: there’s a problem. We can reduce that 400$ to a 200$ very easily, just by keeping it in control. It’s just something I need to be aware of. And it’s a resolution we are taking starting tomorrow. The hardest is going to be to cut the coffees. In the past, I set myself some no coffees week without too much trouble. We should be doing alright.

Wonder how looks our budget now? It’s looking rough and tough!

It’s looking like this:

Rent: 545$
Internet: 35$
Metro pass: 70$
Bank line of credit #1: 100$
Bank line of credit #2: 125$
Credit cards balance transfer #1: 100$
Credit cards balance transfer #2: 150$
Student loan: 100$
Groceries and other: 200$
Total: 1 425$

At 200$ for groceries and other, there will be not that much spending! It’s going to be awful, but this how life goes on. We make it happen before; we are going to make it again.

Don’t worry, we can count on our dividend cash from Canadian dividend paying units, who will soon become Canadian dividend paying stocks.

Its not a bad thing after all that Pembina Pipeline Income Fund (PIF.UN) suspend its DRIP. Starting April, it won’t be possible to earn extra units out of PIF.UN. This month, we earned 53.69$ in dividend from Pembina Pipeline. Starting April, we will received a bit more than 53.69$ in dividend (meaning cash!!) from PIF.UN.

Dividend = Cash

We currently earn each month cash from different .UN invesments because we don’t own enough of unit to benefit from the DRIP. They are:

Bell Aliant Regional Communications Income Fund (BA.UN): 24.17$
Davis + Henderson Income Fund (DHF.UN): 15.33$
Pengrowth Energy Trust (PGF.UN): 7.42$

Once those will be convert into corporation, I am really going to miss the joy of receiving dividend every single months of the year!

If we calculate PIF.UN, BA.UN, DHF.UN and PGF.UN dividend all together… it make the fantatsic amount of 100.61$!

1 425$ (monthly expenses) – 100.61$ (amount of dividend earn in cash)
= 1 324.39$

This is just a little example, but it’s giving a taste of the magic of dividend: free money, that we desperately need.

And how about a gain of 268.95$ instead?

My non registered stocks and units investment portfolio is now at 48 371.86$... It’s keep adding up, increasing…This represent a gain of 268.95$ compare to March 24…It’s even more than the gain realize just yesterday.

Too bad Just Energy Income Fund (JE.UN) had to decrease at 14.18$, when I purchased 200 units at 14.29$ and 100 units at 14.30$ this last Friday... However, some other companies are « jumping ». They are: Yellow Pages Income Fund (YLO.UN), now at 6.22$, Bank of Nova Scotia (BNS) is ALMOST at 52$.... Great surprise with Enbridge Income Fund (ENF.UN) who exceed the 13$ per unit. I say surprise but hey, this is a Derek Foster pick! So we shouldn’t be surprise with this increase at all! All increase are welcome of course.

Currently, Enbridge Income Fund (ENF.UN) is at a fantastic 13.26$!! I hope the day continue like this. If so, I am going to update again the whole thing… Doesn’t look like it, but updating my portfolio always is taking me a good hour, if not an hour an a half each time. Busy Friday.

A gain of 203.24$ in my stocks & units investment portfolio

I am quite exciting on how well things are going! My only regret is to see that poor woman at the name of Ann Coulter making a fool of herself in Canadian territory. All the people I take to about it agree: Ann Coulter is a poor foolish writer, Republican, and all what happen at the University of Ottawa had giving Ann Coulter a good press coverage and it’s a shame. First, the woman is against Muslims and gays. She said in a press conference: "How did Canada go from being the country that sends us all our best comedians to a bunch of whining, crying babies that can’t take a joke?" Muslims and gay rights, among other, are not a joke. It’s not something anyone had the right to make fun of. Canada is a country of integrity. Ann Coulter makes a living by selling books. What happen at the University of Ottawa is giving her free press: see, I am actually talking about her on my blog right now!

But I feel powerless, very irritating to see Ann Coulter wanted to be well-treated in Canada. Ann Coulter won’t be well-treated in Canada because most of Canadians are for civil rights, are Muslims and gay friendly. Best thing that can possibly happen at the University of Calgary: I hope she’ll be giving her speech in front of an empty theatre. Shame at the University of Calgary, the University of Ottawa and the institution of London Ontario to have invite Ann Coulter for a speech. Also, shame at the editor of the National Post who had published an email send by a senior administrator of the University of Ottawa send to Ann Coulter. This is all a big mess and Ann Coulter is taking advantage of it. I never heard about Ann Coulter before the Ottawa events. But when I read about Ann Coulter and learn more about her, I just had one thing on mind: the bitch is better to leave Barack Obama alone! Its all I have to say about Ann Coulter. If you are not aware of Ann Coulter and what happen at the University of Ottawa, you can google Ann Coulter University of Ottawa and you’ll see by yourself… Ann Coulter is a blond freak. Should she never come to Montreal or she will receive exactly the same treatment she had received in Ottawa.

As for now, my stocks and units investment portfolio (non registered one) is currently at a very awesome 48 306.15$, a gain of 203.24$ compare to… only yesterday! I don’t even earn that much money in one day of work right now! All gain, as little as they are, all good and welcome. At this point, my investment life is much much interesting because I had reached the amount of richness I never expected to have of my life. I realize this today, as I was working… lol. I can definitively “feel” the portfolio taking form… Can you feel it too? lol… My good and bad investments experience (and bad work experience at BMO Bank of Montreal) allow me to appreciate my money even more and I can now see clearly exactly where I am going. Straight to the point as always.

So things are getting pretty hot in my investment portfolio. Yesterday, I went through this calculation:

86 047.56$ (total) in assets + 4 239.96$ in annual dividend income
= 90 287.52$

Wow…… 90 287.52$. Isn’t that awesome?

Ok, yes, I have 36 585.03$ in debts, but my yearly dividend cover the cost of the interest rate on the money I borrow. At 36 585.03$ in debts, I am not in the deep red. Well, I do not considered myself as being in the deep red, struggling with debt problems. So check this out:

4 239.96$ (amount earn in annual dividend income) – 1 775.20$ (amount of the interest generate on my 36 585.03$ debt)
= 2 464.76$

Very very good!

The key is to have enough money to cover the minimum loan payment due each month. At this point, I have no problem. Everything is under control. At least for now lol...

Hope that sharing my experience will help other to believe that the dream is possible.

If you want my point of view, BMO Bank of Montreal and Ann Coulter are looking pretty bad right now. What do you think?

Wednesday, March 24, 2010

I am now at 86 047.56$

Nice day today. NB Power won’t be sell to Quebec, I had purchased 300 brand new units of Just Energy Income Fund (JE.UN)… live is good! I had left 1 077.99$ in cash on my TD credit line, which is great. In case of need, I will have cash available. I could invest in 100 units of Claymore Gold Bullion ETF (CGL) since the unit price is currently under the 10$ per unit but for more safety, I prefer to have some cash available somewhere.

Nice gain for Bank of Nova Scotia (BNS). Too bad the TSX lose points today. However, I update my investment portfolio since so many changes happen in the last couple of days.

I am at 86 047.56$. Also, my level of debts had increased.

Here’s an overview of the situation:

Total assets: 86 047.56$

Annual dividend income (non registered account): 3 933.56$
Annual dividend income (registered account): 306.40$
Total in dividend income: 4 239.96$

My debt situation:
Student loan: 8 464$ at 4.75% = 402.04$ in annual interest
Credit line: 4 840$ at 3.5% = 169.40$ in annual interest
Credit line: 3 922.01$ at 8% = 313.76$ in annual interest
RSP Credit line: 10 000$ at 4.75% = 475$ in annual interest
Credit card balance transfer: 5 000$ at 4.9% = 245$ in annual interest
Credit card balance transfer: 4 359.02$ at 3.9% = 170$ in annual interest

Total of debts: 36 585.03$
Total in annual interest rate: 1 775.20$
I calculate the interest rates on an annual basis, but the credit card balance transfer I have made are valid for 6 months only.

At this point, having more debts will make no sense. Its actually barely make sense at this point. I am fair play, I like to expose it all…

Here’s my net value:

86 047.56$ (total) in assets + 4 239.96$ in annual dividend income
= 90 287.52$

90 287.52$36 585.03$ (total of debt) – 1 775.20$ (total in annual interest)
= 51 927.29$

At this point, my net value is of 51 927.29$. Since my net value is more than 50 000$, I feel comfortable with my debt situation. At this point, I won’t apply for any more credit line, loan and I won’t borrow any more money using what I call my ping-pong method. At this point, I won’t go deeper in debts.

Did you notice, we are now at a 90 287.52$ (after adding the juicy dividend income). We have less than 10 000$ to go! Nice, but are we going to be able to make it? Yes, but…

I borrow money using credit card balance transfer on a regular basis. I did one back in November 2009 for the amount of 1681.78$ at 3.9%. This one will expire in May or April 2010. So what’s going to happen? If I do not receive a credit card balance transfer, I will have to sell some stocks. If we sell any of our investment, we won’t be able to make it, we won’t be able to reach our 100 000.00$ assets. The market seems to be fairly ok. I can invest 10 000$ in the next 10 months. That’s possible. But if I have to sell anything I hold to pay off one of my credit card balance transfer when they will expire…. I won’t be able to make it. And if not, my live will be ruin. I won’t be able to get my revenge on BMO Bank of Montreal who lay off me very unfairly.

So what are we going to do?
For that part, I don't know yet.

My debt situation in date of February 24, 2010

Student loan debt: 8 517.94$ at 4.75% = 404.60$ in annual interest
4 817.03$ at 3.5% = 168.60$ in annual interest
4 436.21$ at 3.9% = 173.01$ in annual interest
3 587.13$ at 8% = 286.97$ in annual interest
10 000$ at 4.75% = 475$ in annual interest

Total of debts: 31 358.31$
Total in annual interest rate: 1 508.18$

More more more, welcome 300 units more of Just Energy Income Fund (JE.UN)

Just before I make my 300 units purchase of Just Energy Income Fund (JE.UN), my investment portfolio (the non RSP one) was at 44 011$! WOW! I invest in 300 units of Just Energy Income Fund (JE.UN). I am now currently at 48 273.05$. Now am at... 48 294.81$ (10 seconds later). I like trading on T D Waterhouse! Experimenting the power of real time lol.

Tonight, we are going to update our investment portfolio. I hope the day will finish well on the stock market.

The poor Timminco (TIM) is now at less than 1$. Bank of Scotia (BNS) is at more than 51$.. HOT stuff going up. So go go go TSX. Make my day.

NB Power belong to New Brunswickers!

Finally! New Brunswick Premier Shawn Graham had been intelligent enough to close New Brunswick doors to Hydro-Québec! New Brunswickers had what it take to be energetic independent. Shouldn't ever loose the control of our province never again! the Québec Governement is just so ridiculous. By asking too much, Québec had the deal close. And that's better this way!

Is it New Brunswickers fault if previous provincial governement, we can think of Bernard Lord, didn't do what they should to protect New Brunswickers energy ressources? Just like other province, New Brunswick is able to be auto-sufficient. Just our ministers had stop to look ways around to sell us to foreigns, like Québec. Bernard Lord is just one of those idiot. He currently live in Montreal. One of the stupiest and laziest New Brunswick past minister live and work in Québec? Coincidence? No. too much jerks are here, especially in Montreal: Brian Mulroney, Henri-Paul Rousseau, among other. And I a just praying God almost everyday for a relocation.

But now, how New Brunswick going to produce its energy? I don't have a clue. Candle light....... lol..........

New Brunswick rock and NB Power blong to New Brunswickers and to no one else.

Anyhow, Hydro-Québec customer service is so poor, very awful. There's also a lot of billing problem. I don't want any of that shift in my province. So now things are going to be better for New Brunswickers since nothing of the poor Québec system will be in the place.

May God bless New Brunswick.

Welcome Consumers’, 200 units of The Consumers’ Waterheater Income Fund in my online future trading brokerage

Right now, things are going so great, I thing we are going to be able to make it! Our stocks and units investment portfolio (non registered one) is currently at a super great 43 781$.

Up of 222.40$ compare to March 5, 2010! Very nice! We like slow, little calm increase of our portfolio.

For our first 100 000.00$, what I am looking for is stability. Not magical gain. And I continue to believe that if I continue to diversify my portfolio, we’ll be able to make great things happen.

Today, we use the money earn by our sell of Creststreet Alternative Energy Fund to purchase 200 units of The Consumers’ Waterheater Income Fund (CWI.UN). So it’s now official, we now own 200 units of The Consumers’ Waterheater Income Fund (CWI.UN). This investment is from our Tax-free savings account.

Since March 5, 2010, many changes happen in our investment portfolio in a very short period of time. We need to update our investment portfolio, but it won’t until a couple of days. Reason why?

I currently have just a bit more than 5 000$ to invest. A 1 000$ here, a 5 000$ there… Wonder where the 5 000$ is coming from? Well, it’s coming from a ping-pong game. To know what it is about, I will be mean, if you are a new reader, you will have to refer to previous posts. And to the ones who knows what I am taking about well, to them, I will say: OUPS I DID IT AGAIN! lol….

I have to say, this morning was quite busy. I ply ping-pong. I borrow 5 000$ at 4.9% for 6 months. Initially, that money was supposed to be use to pay off one of my credit line. I know I said I won’t borrow anymore… But it’s just for 6 months and I can manage this new loan in my budget payments. After this, I am done, no more ping-pong game. Ok, I have the money, nice, but what am I going to do with it? I was thinking about investing in Just Energy Income Fund (JE.UN). I know, you’ll probably say, more units from JE.UN. But did you know, Jean-François Tardif had well rated Just Energy Income Fund (JE.UN) in, I think, 2009. Ok, we are in 2010, but I think the situation with JE.UN pretty much the same, if not better than 2009 since JE.UN had made some new acquisitions since that time. Right now, JE.UN seems a good investment. So how about 300 new units of Just Energy Income Fund (JE.UN) in our portfolio?

Why not?

See the effect on our dividend income (for the non registered part):

Currently, with The Consumers’ Waterheater Income Fund (CWI.UN) included, we have an annual dividend income of 3 501.56$.

300 new units of Just Energy Income Fund (JE.UN) will provide us 432$ in annual dividend income (1.44$ per unit).

3 501.56 + 432$ = 3 933.56$ in annual dividend income (around 327$ per month in dividend income).

At almost 4 000$ in dividend annual income, we definitively going to invest in 300 units of Just Energy Income Fund (JE.UN)! I don’t know what’s going to happen in 6 months from now once my 4.9% will have expired. But that’s just in 6 months. We also have a previous ping-pong with CIBC that should end in the next couple of months… So we are going to see what’s going to happen to all of that fantastic money.

And by the way, we had received today our Bell Aliant Regional Communications Income Fund (BA.UN) dividend. We had received 24.17$ in monthly dividend from Bell Aliant Regional Communications Income Fund (BA.UN).

Monday on the go

Another week begin on a good speed. My stocks and units investment portfolio is now at 43 797.30$, which is an increase of 238.70$ compare to what I hold on March 5th. My RSP portfolio with Emera (EMA), EnCana Corporation (ECA) and Claymore Gold Bullion EFT (CGL) didn’t do that well. I actually lost around 200$ from this group of investment. But nothing to worry about, its just the normal fluctuation of the stock market, from my point of view. But I have to say, I worry about EnCana Corporation (ECA) as the stock continue to loose some value without no reason. Just a bit scary, to tell you the true.

Newest dividend

I just received 29.18$ in monthly dividend from Enbridge Income Fund (ENF.UN). With the help of the DRIP, I earned 2 extra units of Enbridge Income Fund (ENF.UN). At this point, holding Enbridge Income Fund (ENF.UN) in my investment portfolio is very interesting because each unit now worth 13$! Nice profit right here with ENF.UN.

Creststreet Alternative Energy Fund is now part of the past

Last week, I place a sell order in order to sell all of the units I hold of Creststreet Alternative Energy Fund. I just received the cash from the sale: 1 100$. At the end, I made a profit of 100$ of this sell. I am now getting ready to make the purchase of 200 units of The Consumers’ Waterheater Income Fund (CWI.UN). I fix my order at the max price of 5.30$. Today, The Consumers’ Waterheater Income Fund (CWI.UN) close at 5.28$. So I guess the trade will go through. I prefer place my order in advance because I have things to do tomorrow morning before going to work, like getting my taxe papers ready among other things.

EnCana Corporation (ECA): the benefits of investing in green natural gas energy

This last Friday, for our RSP, we invested in 100 stocks of EnCana Corporation (ECA). I wanted to explain the reason why I decide to invest in EnCana Corporation (ECA). Part of the reason why I decide to invest in EnCana Corporation (ECA) is that the one and only Derek Foster hold some stocks of EnCana Corporation (ECA) in his very own investment portfolio. So of course, everything that Derek Foster hold, we hold too. At this point, we do not hold all of Derek Foster companies, but it should be soon! But other reasons other than Derek Foster motivate our investment in EnCana Corporation (ECA).

What’s EnCana Corporation (ECA)?

EnCana Corporation (ECA) is a Canadian corporation. The headquarters of EnCana Corporation (ECA) are located in Calgary, in the province of Alberta. EnCana Corporation (ECA) had been created only in 2002, but it’s already a huge player in the natural gas industry. Actually, in 2010, EnCana Corporation (ECA) is the largest North America's largest natural gas producer. In Canada, EnCana Corporation (ECA) operated in Alberta, northeast British Columbia and southeast Saskatchewan and in Nova Scotia. In the United States, EnCana Corporation have activities in Colorado, Wyoming, Texas and Louisiana. Over 8 000 employees work for EnCana Corporation.

EnCana Corporation (ECA) is a well-establish company, even if the company had been around only since 2002. EnCana Corporation (ECA) is one of those perfect investments for RSP. Why? EnCana Corporation had good long-term perspectives when it comes to its natural gas assets. On March 16, 2010, EnCana Corporation (ECA) declared, to repeat the worlds: “Encana’s enormous inventory of natural gas resources more than sufficient to double production in five years”. This is a major announcement. EnCana Corporation (ECA) is ALREADY North America’s largest natural gas producer. And now, the largest natural gas producer announced that its gas resources are more than sufficient to double production within the next 5 years! Competitors in the same sector will probably never be able to become larger than EnCana Corporation (ECA) since EnCana announced that they will double its productivity. This is something significant. It’s announced a lot of grow to EnCana for the years to come. We can easily suppose that EnCana will probably later on increase its dividend.

While conducting search for our RSP investment, we had to think twice about EnCana Corporation. Fact is, EnCana Corporation is only paying 0.80$ per stock in annual dividend. We are saying only because we are used to invest in companies who actually are paying much more in dividend. Examples would be: Just Energy Income Fund (JE.UN) distributed 1.44$ per unit in annual dividend, Fortis Inc. (FTS) distributed 1.12$ per stock in annual dividend, and so on. Since we hold EnCana Corporation (ECA) in a registered broker account, its low-paying dividend does not affect us as much as if we would hold the company in a non registered broker account. But no matter what, EnCana Corporation represents a great investment and we are very proud to own now 100 of its stock. EnCana Corporation trade on both TSX and NYSE under the ticket ECA.

Need other reasons to invest in EnCana Corporation, either your living north or south of the border?

Well, EnCana Corporation regularly publish note about its cash flow. Until recently, I didn’t know about cash flow, until a reader explain to me that Jean-François Tardif, the glamorous ex-hedge fund manager (who might come back who knows), was picking stocks considering the cash flow of companies. On date of today, I am still note quite familiar with cash flow, but what I can say is that EnCana Corporation (ECA) may not pay a very huge dividend, but the company has a nice cash flow and regularly publish data about its cash flow. Need examples?

On a new release publish on date of March 16, 2010, EnCana publish the following data:

EnCana 2010 Corporate Guidance
Cash flow: 4.40$-4.80$
Cash flow per share ($ per share diluted): 5.85$-6.40$

The last sentence since to mean that for each stocks that EnCana Corporation has on the stock market, a cash flow of 5.85$ to 6.40$ is associated to the value of the stock. Which could mean – always from my understanding – that the real stock value of EnCana Corporation is of 37.77$ per stock! EnCana Corporation (ECA-T) close on Friday at 31.37$, loosing 2.33% of its value. But no worries, all stocks have it’s up and down, and its sometimes follow the market. This last Friday, the TSX closes at 11 947.98 points, loosing 92.04 points.

Also regarding cash flow, on March 20, 2010, EnCana Corporation (ECA) had been ranked on the 163 position on 1 000 companies, on a Top U.S. Stocks with Highest Cash Flow per Share article.

Another reason to invest in EnCana Corporation (ECA)

We personally really appreciate green energy investments. We really appreciate our late Creststreet Alternative Energy Fund for that reason. EnCana Corporation is a company that cares about the environment. The company had received awards for environmental initiatives. In 2008, EnCana Corporation invested $50 million on new technologies in order to increase the company energy efficiency. Currently, EnCana Corporation facilities located in Haynesville Shale (Louisiana, USA) use alternate water sources wherever it’s possible. EnCana Corporation is looking for ways to reduce the amount of water use for its activities.

Last Friday, I invested in 100 stocks of EnCana Corporation (ECA) at per stock. Even we lost some money in this investment, we don’t regret, for all the reasons mention above. We will follow the progression of EnCana Corporation (ECA) and we are very excited with this newest acquisition.

A new way to invest in gold: the Claymore Gold Bullion EFT (CGL)

This Friday, we invested in 200 stocks of Claymore Gold Bullion EFT (CGL). Curious about Claymore Gold Bullion EFT? So am I. Just the world “gold bullion” is kind of catchy. Very attractive and fascinating Claymore Gold Bullion EFT.

More about Claymore Gold Bullion EFT (CGL)

Since May 28, 2009, Claymore provides the chance for investors to have exposure in gold bullion through the Claymore Gold Bullion Trust (CGL.UN). These being done without the high transaction and insurance fee, the handling, storage those are normally associated to gold bullion. While purchasing Claymore Gold Bullion EFT (CGL), if you wonder where in the world is being stored the “physical gold”, well, it’s being stored in the vaults of ScotiaMocatta, a division of the Bank of Nova Scotia. So your gold will be store in a safe place lol.

Ok, so back in 2009, the Claymore Gold Bullion was a Trust, a closed-end fund, which means an .UN investment like we like to name them. At the time, the initial public offering was at $10 per unit, for a total offer of 40,000,000 units. The investment was pretty affordable and basically everyone who had an interest in Claymore Investments and in Gold could invest in the Claymore Gold Bullion Trust. And this is exactly what we like the most about this financial product: its accessibility, not to name also its participation in gold itself. Pretty interesting stuff!

In January 2010, with $816-million under its belt, the Claymore Gold Bullion became an exchange-traded fund (EFT). We never personally invested in an exchange-traded fund before. So let’s hear the experts, see what Claymore Investments had to say regarding EFT: “An ETF is an investment fund that trades throughout the day on stock exchanges during normal trading hours. ETFs combine the advantages of investing in index funds, including diversification and low costs, coupled with the liquidity and flexibility of investing in individual stocks. ETFs offer investors many advantages over other investment vehicles, including enhanced tax efficiency, all day liquidity and complete transparency. ETFs are designed to closely track the holdings and performance of their designated index, whose selection methodology can be either passive or strategic.” Interesting, isn’t?

So the Claymore Gold Bullion changed from Claymore Gold Bullion Trust (CGL.UN) to Claymore Gold Bullion ETF. The hedged common units of the fund than began to be trade on the Toronto Stock Exchange (TSX) under CGL. At the time, it’s seemed like Claymore Investments wanted to make the trading easier for its new gold bullion product. The fact that the Claymore Gold Bullion change from Claymore Gold Bullion Trust (CGL.UN) to Claymore Gold Bullion ETF (CGL) didn’t changed, according to Som Seif, President of Claymore Investments, and the investment objective or investment restrictions of the fund. The name had changes, but it’s always the same good “gold bullion” product. Also, Claymore Gold Bullion EFT (CGL) is the very first physical gold bullion of Canadian ETFs.

This meaning that investors can now invest in Claymore Gold Bullion ETF (CGL) in the same way they invest in stocks over the Toronto Stock Exchange (TSX). Commission fees required by online brokers are the same for EFT as for stocks. Which mean that if like myself, you are a small investor who trade through T D Waterhouse, you will pay 29$ in commission fee in order to make the acquisition of some Claymore Gold Bullion ETF units, not to call them stocks. They are being trade like stocks, but they are not stocks, they are pieces of the reconstitution of an index and, more specifically in this case of the value of gold bullion. Simple and easy as 1-2-3. And good news for small investors likes us: the management fee for the Claymore Gold Bullion is only of 0.50%! Also, just like other stocks, it’s possible to listed options on the Claymore Gold Bullion ETF. This feature had been added on February 19, 2010, for the greatest pleasure of investors.

Investing in EFT allow small investors like ourselves to take advantage of the TSX without assuming all the risks. A large part of our investment portfolio is invested in stocks and units trade on the TSX. So we appreciate the qualities our newest Claymore Gold Bullion ETF acquisition. But be aware, EFT investments are not guaranteed investments. EFT investments are not risk-free investment, but an EFT like the Claymore Gold Bullion EFT can certainly bring a certain stability to an investment portfolio. We could see the EFT a bit like mutual funds, but without the high fees. The Claymore Gold Bullion ETF (CGL) is eligible for registered plans like RRSP, RRIF, RESP, DPSP and TFSA, and also non registered plan.

The Claymore Gold Bullion ETF (CGL) completes our RSP investment acquisitions of today. Earlier this morning, we purchased 200 units of Claymore Gold Bullion ETF (CGL). We pay 10.14$ per units. But here’s your change for purchase Claymore Gold Bullion ETF (CGL) at a cheaper price on Monday maybe, at the opening, since the Claymore Gold Bullion ETF close today at 9.99$. Like other financial products and stocks and units, Claymore Gold Bullion ETF has to face the market volatibility. But good news, no matter what, Claymore Gold Bullion ETF value remains relatively stable. Claymore Gold Bullion ETF lowest value since inspection had been of 9.99$ and the highest had been 10.75$. We add today the Claymore Gold Bullion ETF (CGL) thinking this investment could possibly add value to our investment portfolio. We will follow the progression of our Claymore Gold Bullion ETF (CGL) investment in the next couple of months.

Welcome Claymore, 200 new stocks of Claymore Gold Bullion ETF (CGL) in my RSP investment portfolio

Busy morning, isn't?

Our non RSP stocks and units investment portfolio is currently at 43 650.38$. Pretty strong morning at the TSX.

I also invested this morning in 200 stocks of Claymore Gold Bullion ETF (CGL). I really wanted to make this purchase ASAP! I purchase 200 stocks at 10.16$. I could had wait, since gold goes up and down all the time... But I wanted Claymore right away! Right now!!!! Gold investment is cool.

So..............

Welcome dear Claymore Gold Bullion ETF (CGL) in our investment portfolio!

Welcome EnCana, 100 new stocks of EnCana Corporation (ECA) in my RSP investment portfolio

I did a pretty good deal on this one. I purchased 100 stocks of EnCana Corporation (ECA) at 32.01$! I saw the price of EnCana Corporation (ECA) loosing value. So I set up a purchase order at the maximum price of 32.01$... And it went through! This is a good investment, even if the dividend is a bit low.

EnCana Corporation (ECA), welcome in our portfolio! :)

Welcome Emera, 200 new stocks of Emera Incorporated (EMA) in my RSP investment portfolio

This is it! I just invested in 200 stocks of Emera Incorporated (EMA). The 200 stocks were purchased in 2 blocks of 100 stocks. Don't ask me why. First block was purchased at 24.60$. The second one at 24.61$. Yeah!

Welcome Emera Incorporated (EMA) in our investment portfolio!

My RSP investments for the fiscal year of 2009

Today, something extraordinary happen: Yellow Pages Income Fund (YLO.UN) had exceeded the 6$ per stock! Yellow Pages close the day at 6.03$! That’s very good for our investment portfolio. Also, the fabulous Just Energy Income Fund (JE.UN) who finish the day at an extraordinary 14.28$! Way to go Just Energy Income Fund (JE.UN)!

Also, what I had been waiting for had finally happen: the 10 500$ from my RSP saving account got transferred into my online broker account. The money is there, just waiting for me to take some actions. So new trades are among the way. Very exciting!

We are looking forward to make some new investments. In a way, 10 500$ is not that much money, but it will certainly calm our appetite for trading for a good month or 2…

We previously discuss about the investment we would like to make. We had removed (PM) from the list. Not that PM does not represent a good investment, but fact is, PM seems to be volatile and we are greatly in need of stability and grow in our investment portfolio. Don’t forget about 100 000.00$ assets goal!

A little while ago, I discover Emera Inc. (EMA) by reading a fantastic blog: Money Energy. The blog is full of investment ideas. Since I am from New Brunswick, I always like to invest in Maritimes stocks. And Emera Inc. (EMA) is quite interesting. Pretty stable company. I like Emera. I wanted add on to my portfolio for a very long time now! So here it comes:

Emera Inc. (EMA)
Number of stock: 200
Investment value: 4 920$ + commission fee of 29$ = 4 949$
Annual dividend earning: 226.40$

This one coming from Derek Foster (Stop Working Too: You Still Can!):

EnCana Corporation (ECA)
Number of stock: 100
Investment value: 3 212$ + 29$ = 3 241$
Annual dividend earning: 80$

We now have 2 310$ left. What are we going to do with it? The magic word: GOLD. This next investment won’t pay any dividend, but it will certainly bring great stability to our investment portfolio. I never invested in gold before, so this is pretty exciting:

Claymore Gold Bullion ETF (CGL)
Number of stock: 200
Investment value: 2 028$ + 29$ = 2 057$

So this is probably what’s going to happen!

As you can see, not too much in dividend, but I acquire 2 companies I wanted for a long time and I think I am doing good investments. And that Claymore Gold Bullion is probably going to rock the house!

So those are for my RSP investment. I didn’t place any purchase order yet. I am over-excited. Gonna wait until tomorrow early morning.

Thank you

Thank you for visiting!
