Nikita in the Old Montreal

You will never be able to guess what happen to me yesterday! I was walking around the Old Montreal on St Paul Street, close to St-François-Xavier intersection and I saw Denis Gagnon wearing his super glasses and riding a bike. It was quite funny knowing how many times I had exposed his dresses through my Staree account. What I am doing is pretty simple; I post on Staree every single picture that is stored on my computer and in exchange, Staree is giving me a few bucks...

A place where I had been doing well lately is on HubPages. I know, there’s a bunch of my crazy articles post on there BUT it’s all going very well. Nothing to live on, but a nice extra income. I am currently at $77 and the month is not even over. I made $40.79 last month and this month so far a $37. It’s really possible to generate an interesting income from HubPages if you are willing to put time and money in it. There’s a monthly payout as soon as you reach $50.

And in case you wonder, Denis Gagnon is quite skinny and not very tall. He wears his hair, black with a bit of grey, in a ponytail. If it wouldn’t be of his famous glasses, I wouldn’t have recognized him. I had my iPod, but felt it wasn’t really appropriate to shoot him out because he had noticed I was over-looking at him lol. So I continue my way. But I promise to be a bit more provocateur next time. One man I used to see a lot around is Michel Tremblay. I also saw Daniel Bélanger once and also Rick Genest. It’s about all of the celebrities I saw in Montreal while walking around.

That was for the most exciting part. I had spent the last 2 days in the beautiful Montreal weather. Today, it’s unfortunately raining.

I survived my first day at my new job. It went ok but I just cannot understand why they are taking the time to train someone just for a couple of months. There are many things to be learn. Anyhow, I am getting a few months of full-time work at a good salary, which is enough to cover my unemployment later on. It’s the only way I can go through this without panicking. I don’t really have any regrets. I hope to fill in my portfolio with new dividend investments really soon! I want KEG.UN, among other.

My freelance thing is going on very well. I had completed my first assignment yesterday and I am looking forward to continue that way all summer long. :0) I could possibly do a living from that, my dividend income and other online income, but its too soon to tell.

I am very pleased with my investment portfolio. My non-registered is at $124 558.84, quite an interesting amount of money. Facebook (FB) went from $38 to what, was it really $31 that I saw? I really wanted to get in Facebook IPO but my purchase order never went through... Was it a great thing? Oh yes.

Our JFT Strategic Fund (JSF.UN) has no margin loan value at TD Waterhouse. So far, JSF.UN is stable in its value. I cannot wait to see how the fund will go in the upcoming weeks. Me the under-employment girl, I want to make a fortune out of Jean-François Tardif. Will it work? What will happen? Will TD Waterhouse finally wake up and provide a margin value to the JFT Strategic Fund (JSF.UN)? I am expecting such intelligent act coming from TD Waterhouse.

I have a few pictures of the Old Montreal I could show you. I will post them later on..

Jean-François Tardif? Oh yeah, I would like to know EVERYTHING about JFT. What does he buys, what does he eat. Does he has a girlfriend? Is he divorced? What his girl is doing now? And a bunch of other stuff hot and personal :)

Tardif is married & has kids & a blank cheque in his hand. He knows how to work a snack bar. He became bilingual by working in B.C. He now lives in Ontario. He is a CFA but holds no advanced degree (just a undergrad business, University Sherbrooke
) or special qualifications. He claims to trading at 14 yrs old. He was the top stock picker for the Toronto Star portfolio contest . It appears this got him a job at Sprott. He plays golf. Sounds like a snore-fest. Anony-coma-tose

Pattirose, what do you think of our Just Energy now..kicking myself here for not selling out at $14...it will be awhile for stocks to recover after this mess. I see Pengrowth is oversold, any comments on these two funds Sunny as somedays they lose more than a month's dividends.

It wasn't what got him the job at Sprott. He was working for ING in Montreal and his position had been put in St-Hyacinthe and he didn't want to leave for a small town because he wanted to stay connected to the finance. He had an interest in Sprott and was exchanging on a regular basis with a Sprott rep in Montreal. When he learned he was about to move to St Hyacinthe, he asked the buddy if Sprott was looking for managers and that's how it started. He read about one daughter he had and was about to finish high school when he left Sprott or shortly after, but its about all. He is from Victoriaville (QC). And yes, he had started to trade when he was 14 but its only while working at Sprott that he built his fortune.

I know all that. But I want to learn more. Are you sure he's not divorce? ;0)

Hi Ruth, I like both JE and PGF, don't let the market volatility scare you to death.

fear and greed, that makes the markets... should have could have, all past tense, no turning back, just need to live with the consequences, that's part of the investing game, fear and greed, damn i sold it too early or damn i didn't sold it on time, you never win...

ain't it the truth and it is greed , no doubt...a fellow on business channel said that there is no sense in chasing the paid for price, there are lots of stocks out there that do pay well and he also said if he wanted a stock for a 100 years , it would be enbridge. i am going to pare down my stocks and go to 5 or 6 solid ones..including BCE .

Funny you should say that Ruth because that's exactly what I'm going to do. Last year one of the bloggers did a great post about stocks to hold for a 100 years I'll post a link if I can find it, I think it's on my other laptop.

Hi Ruth, Douglas Kee from Leon Fraser and Associates quotes Lyle Stein as previously mentioning on BNN that he would own ENB for 100 years.

I phoned him on Market Call last Thursday asking about PPL. That was my first time calling. I held shares of 35 companies and someone from TD advised me to scale down. I am at 16 now and I feel more relaxed. It's like cleaning house!

was that you Crystal? wow..i had been waiting for a call about Pembina for ages , it is hardly mentioned and yet it is a huge company and a good one. i followed a couple of stocks that i quickly got out of and they are down, am going with the heavy guys as having JE...the dividends are being paid by me now..if it gets close to 14 , i am out. Look at Pengrowth..a guy put some of his house money in that one at 20 something...it is $740 or so now..am out of that one and hoping to make some of the losses back on the good guys.

Crystal..i have to tell you that Douglas Kee is my favourite guy..what a doll too....my type of guy....ah too old to go there. i think he is one of the best on that show..there was one fellow that came on...i think he had his portfolio down 10% last year and others come on with plus that and more..interesting stuff...the one guy i do not listen to advice anymore is Cramer..like his entertainment but not his choices.

back again..just watched berman's call and je came up and he said it was a very high risk stock and with that high of a dividend , he called for it to be likely cut...pengrowth came up too and he didn't like it much either..it was an interesting program and an enlightening one on the aging population and how it will affect the markets.
